Key Responsibilities

• The proposal manager is responsible for all technical documentation aspects of a project from initial request stage to firm binding commitment with the Customer.

• The proposal manager is responsible for ensuring quality, optimized cost and delivery of thetechnical documentation which includes major deliverables given below:

- Technical Description

- Scope table

- Vendor List

• Ensuring the learning from reference projects is implemented in new proposals and driving cost optimization by vendor selection and VAVE implementation.

• Sharing RFQs for critical bought outs for getting the technical and commercial proposal

• Working with technology experts and product line managers to guarantee the customer requirements is translated into achievable specifications and performance guarantees.

• Working with estimation team to ensure scope clarification and document adequacy to work out the rock bottom costing.


Education & Experience

The ideal candidate for the proposal manager position should have the following skills:

10 years’ experience (engineering and/or technical project management) in capital goods projects of one or more of the below processes in the international steel making of flat products, with a project value of 50 to 500 Crores:

o automotive and construction grade continuous annealing and galvanizing lines

o cold rolling mills

o pickling lines, and acid regeneration plants

o Electrical steel – Annealing pickling and Annealing coating line


Proven experience in establishing and updating technical offers, in other words:

o establishment of technical descriptions for equipment and peripheral devices

o verification of assembly drawings and process diagrams

o definition of supplies and services

o drafting performance as per design reviews establishment of project preliminary schedule

o definition of clarifications and technical deviations from those set out in the tender

o management of the risk and opportunity matrix in the lead-to-order phaseReferences into technical sales with high-end flat steel makers in Europe, USA and Asia, like Arcelor Mittal, Baowu, TATA, Nucor, Aperam


Background, Skills and Competencies

- Good in communication (English and specific to our product lines), and ability to technical offers of vendors’ RFQ’s, technical comparison and argumentation.

- Knowledge of IT tools Microsoft 365 (Teams, Tasks, Planner, Project on-line), Autodesk (AutoCAD, Inventor, Vault), Dynamics (CRM), SAP & SAC, Power BI & Excel pivot tables.

- Ability to work with internal and external stakeholders – both local and international

- Working in an agile environment
