Job Description for Regional Portfolio Manager

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

1. Portfolio Management

l Monitor portfolio performance across products and branches in the region.

l Track key indicators like NPAs, PAR (Portfolio at Risk), repayment efficiency, and disbursal trends.

l Identify portfolio stress early and implement corrective actions.

2. Risk & Credit Oversight

l Ensure adherence to credit policy and underwriting norms.

l Work closely with Credit and Risk teams to improve asset quality.

l Conduct periodic audits and portfolio reviews to detect deviations.

3. Business Support

l Support business teams in designing customer-centric products based on regional needs.

Provide data-driven insights to improve customer targeting and risk-adjusted returns.

4. Collections Monitoring

l Monitor delinquency levels and drive collection strategies in coordination with recovery teams.

l Deploy early warning systems for identifying high-risk accounts.

Drive field recoveries where needed and manage legal escalation in coordination with legal teams.

5. Stakeholder Management

l Liaise with internal teams – Credit, Risk, Collections, Technology, and Operations.

l Collaborate with external stakeholders like collection agencies, legal counsel, and local partners.

6. Team Management & Training

l Guide and support branch teams on portfolio health, documentation, and risk controls.

l Conduct regular training and capacity building sessions on credit hygiene, fraud control, and process adherence.

 

 

Qualifications & Experience:

Education: Graduate/Post-Graduate in Finance, Agriculture, Rural Management, or related fields. MBA preferred.

Experience: Minimum 12-15 years in NBFC/MFI/Rural Banking sector, with at least 7 years in portfolio or credit management roles.

Domain Knowledge: Understanding of agri-lending, rural markets, credit cycles, and collection practices.

 

Key Skills:

l Strong analytical and risk assessment abilities

l Knowledge of agri/rural lending practices

l Experience in handling delinquencies and recoveries

l Proficiency in Excel, MIS, and portfolio dashboards

l Good communication and stakeholder management skills

l Familiarity with regulatory frameworks (RBI, NBFC norms)
